City took a point away from home on Tuesday afternoon.
Match Summary
Cardiff City's U21 side were denied victory by a late penalty-kick against the Cherries, having gone ahead by two goals in the first half.
Trey George fired the young Bluebirds ahead in the first two minutes of play, with Dan Ola on hand before the half-hour mark to head home at the back post from a well-worked cross.
Despite leading for most of the match, with ten minutes remaining the hosts got one back through Jonny Day's strike. In injury time, Caden Voice committed a foul inside the area, conceding the penalty-kick that saw Michael Dacosta Gonzalez equalise with seconds remaining.
PRE-MATCH | DARREN PURSE
Ahead of the contest, U21 head coach Darren Purse said: “The three days after the Coventry City game on Friday are rest, recovery and reaction. Rest, can we get our recovery in, and can we see a reaction on Monday.
“It’s going to be a tough game. Bournemouth are a really good side. They beat us at home earlier in the season. We’ve got to really up our game with our intensity levels."
LAST TIME OUT
City suffered a 2-0 defeat last Friday against Coventry City.
The young Bluebirds found themselves behind with only three minutes played. Victor Madu rose highest to head past the on-rushing Ewan Griffiths. City almost equalised when Noah Williams’ shot was saved, and the rebound fell to Luke Pearce, who reacted quickest and fired an effort goalwards. However, he was somehow denied by Oscar Varney in the Coventry goal.
The visitors doubled their lead five minutes after the break when Conrad Ambursley’s inviting cross was turned home by Aidan Dausch. Substitute Cody Twose almost hit back instantly for City, but his strike was cleared off the line. The Bluebirds created the final clear chance of the game when Sekou Kaba’s cutback found Pearce, who worked the ball but was denied by the visitors' keeper.
