LAST TIME OUT

City boosted their hopes of reaching the Premier League Cup knockout stages with a 3–1 win against QPR.

The Bluebirds started strong, with Troy Perrett putting the ball over the bar in the opening stages. Darren Purse’s side kept an intensity to the game, as the ball often finding Tanatswa Nyakuhwa on the right flank.

The hosts won a penalty in the 31st minute after Trey George’s effortless involvement found him brought down in the opposition's box. In form, Perrett stepped up and found the bottom left corner, opening the scoring. Luke Pearce had a goal ruled out just before the interval.

In the second half, QPR’s Ridwan Hassan had a goal ruled offside. Pearce and Perrett both tested QPR’s Joe Walsh but were denied both times. Nyakuhwa got a well-deserved goal at the 65th-minute mark.

Pearce would get the host’s third of the evening following an error from the opposition. QPR pulled one back at the death through Isak Alemayehu, but it ended up a consolation goal.
