U21 quartet sign new City deals

Ewan Griffiths, Jake Dennis, Trey George and Troy Perrett
Four of the Bluebirds' U21s side have extended their stay at Cardiff City Football Club.

Goalkeepers Jake Dennis and Ewan Griffiths have both signed new deals, along with midfielders Troy Perrett and Trey George.

Jake Dennis

Goalkeeper Dennis joined City's Academy at the age of eight.

Having grown through the age-groups, he has impressed for various sides during his time at the Club.

Dennis has also gained vast experience on loan at Gloucester City, Oldham Athletic and Merthyr Town in recent campaigns.

“I’m very happy," Jake said. "I’ve been at this Club since I was eight years old so I’m excited to be signing on again.

“A lot of time has been spent over the years to get to this stage. You always look forward to coming back in pre-season, working hard every day and doing the best that you can.

“Plenty of people have played a part in my development and there are so many to name. Darran Lovell I’ve worked with very closely and all the First Team goalkeeping coaches have been great with me too. I’ve got a lot of gratitude towards them.”

Ewan Griffiths

Griffiths first joined the Bluebirds in July 2024 having had a successful trial at the Club at the end of the 2023/24 season.

During his time in the Welsh capital, he has gained experience on loan at Plymouth Parkway and Cardiff Met.

After signing his new deal, Ewan said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Club so far and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead.

“Last season was a good year for me. After I had an injury at the start of the campaign, I had a positive run of games, then had a loan spell at Cardiff Met and enjoyed that.

“Working in training with the First Team goalkeepers has been amazing. Being around them and seeing how they work on a daily basis, then watching them on the pitch can be so valuable. Having more experience of that is something I’m looking forward to.”

Troy Perrett

Midfielder Perrett extends his stay looking to build on a productive campaign in 2025/26.

He made his First Team debut in the Vertu Trophy against Exeter City and netted his first professional goal in the same competition against Arsenal U21s.

In the second half of the season, Troy spent time on loan at Yeovil Town.

Commenting on his deal, he said: "I'm really pleased. It's such an exciting time to be at the Club and I'm looking forward to the season ahead.

"It was a very positive 12 months for me, playing a lot of U21s football and getting a few appearances for the First Team, it was unbelievable. Going out on loan was a new challenge that I enjoyed.

"I'll be working really hard in pre-season to get some games under my belt and see what I can do from there."

Trey George

George is another to extend his stay having joined the Academy at the age of eight.

The playmaker made his First Team debut in a Vertu Trophy fixture against Arsenal U21 in November 2025, marking the occasion by scoring the third goal in a 3-1 victory, finding the net on his debut.

“I’m so pleased to be able to continue at this Club, Trey said. "There’s always excitement for the new season to start.

“Last year, as the season went on I think I improved a lot and gained confidence. I was happy with the progress that I made overall.

“Working with Darren Purse and Matthew Bloxham, they’re very good coaches.

"They support us a lot in training and going into matches, they believe in all of us and give us that confidence to be the best players we can be.”
