A delighted Matthew Bloxham spoke to cardiffcityfc.co.uk following City's 3-1 U23 victory over Swansea City on Monday night.

“It’s always fantastic when the boys can perform and win eight games on the bounce," Matthew began. "It doesn’t happen often in football.

“For them to apply themselves week in, week out and come away with the performances and wins they deserve, no matter who it’s against, it’s always pleasing and now they need to aim to go nine in nine.

“We know we’ve got loads of energy and firepower within the group, but as well as putting the ball in the net, we defended resiliently and showed a real disciplined attitude when out of possession - ultimately that was really important and we knew it would be.

“Moving forward, this group have a mentality where they’re hard to beat and with every win they grow in confidence, so we’re just looking forward to the next game."

Bloxham added: “There’s no better feeling than winning, whatever level it is: when you know you’ve worked hard all week and have a positive performance, if you take care of the process, the result will take care of itself. We’ve done that this week, let’s do it again.

“It’s not just a team, it’s a squad: players who didn’t get on, players who are returning and players from the U18s who are stepping up.”
