The City boss spoke to the press after the Bluebirds maintained their unbeaten run at home against a strong West Ham United side.
“I’m naturally disappointed that we didn't manage to win the game.” Brian began. “It’s a proverbial game of two halves from our point of view; we showed in the first half what we are capable of, and the players delivered an incredible performance. In the second half, we understood how difficult it may become based on the quality of the opponents, and they just scored at moments of the second half that made it difficult for us to stem the flow. But in the end, the players gave absolutely everything for the Club to win and get the best possible result we could on the night.
“I'm asking the players to put everything on the line because we have such a small squad, and the players who came off did because they were injured. Certain players that were on the pitch were still carrying knocks, so I'm as proud as I've ever been since my time at Cardiff City, by the effort in the way we played the game."
Yet again the Bluebirds side featured many young talents, and it was a special day for Cian Ashford who made his 100th competitive appearance for the Club.
“I think the future for the Club's incredibly bright. We have a whole host of young talents, but the benefit of what we're doing is there is so much young talent, and predominantly Welsh, that are getting a chance to grow in such a testing arena.
"I think Cian Ashford played his 100th game; for such a young player, it's an incredible achievement. You saw in the second half, how at home he looked at this level against players who a short time ago were in the Premier League. So, we have full belief in our players and couldn't be more excited moving forward.”
The match against West Ham United was another in a tough run of fixtures for BBM’s side, but they have picked up well-earned points despite being left stretched due to injuries.
"I think the players have shown over and over again that we're capable of competing at this level and in different parts of the season even more than that. My excitement for this team in this club moving forward is huge and we definitely will show that capability as we progress.
“In this stadium, especially backed by our support, we always want to be attacking and on the front foot." Brian continued. “We got a couple of things wrong and the interpretation of where to be on certain defensive moments was incorrect, but that's because we're a young team improving, and, as long as we have the mentality to always take the opponents on, irrespective of who they are or how much money they've spent, then that is the mentality that we always have to show when we play for this team and for this club.”
