Wolverhampton Wanderers reaction | Brian Barry-Murphy

Brian Barry-Murphy
Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press after his side fell to a 3-0 defeat at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

"It was a difficult game for us." Brian began. "We just weren't at our best in the first half, when we needed to be in possession.

We played a very aggressive game; despite the reputation of Wolves, where they've come from and who they are, we came here to win the game. We were backed by an amazing following, and we didn't want to take a step back.

"We knew the strengths of Wolves on the counter attack. We got the ball to our creative players in certain situations, but it wasn't often enough for us. And then we gave the ball away in areas that cause problems.

"The players gave everything in the second half, we had good chances, but we just couldn't find our way back into the game."

City were hit by two quick-fire first half goals against the former Premier League side, but created several good opportunities of their own, particularly in the second half.

Brian summarised: "All three goals today from our point of view were very disappointing and very soft. We defended our box really poorly in those situations, something that we have done well before. We need to get back to that very quickly.

"In the second half we showed our quality, despite the fact that the game was obviously 2-0. When we were patient and had really good control, we looked like we could open them up and create the chances that we did - we just didn't take them.

"I think that was an insight for us into what we have to do against teams of this calibre to give ourselves a chance to win the game."
