Following the final whistle on Monday night, Joel Bagan spoke to Cardiff City TV to discuss the Bluebirds’ opening day draw in the Sky Bet Championship.
Joel – who featured for the full 90 (plus six) minutes at a packed CCS – heaped praise on his teammates, who fought back following an early opener by the visitors to claim a point on home turf.
“I think it sums up the Championship really,” Joel began. “It was a good team performance apart from the first ten minutes when we were a little shaky.
“The early goal threw us off a little bit, but as a team we picked ourselves back up, got the ball moving the way we can, and to get an ending like that with Rubin to score and see the fans going crazy, it was a good ending.”
On the goal itself, Joel described the moment that saw Rubin Colwill’s last-minute free-kick fly into the back of the net, in front of a jubilant Canton Stand.
He continued: “I was telling him when he put the ball down that he should lay me off because I wanted to have a shot!
“When Rubin gets chances like that, you’re always confident that he’s going to put one away.
“He did it a few times last season and to do it in the last minute and get the point that we really deserved; it was a good ending.”
