Yousef Salech has been named Player of the Round after a strong showing in City's Carabao Cup Round One win over Swindon Town.
The striker collected his award at the Bluebirds' training base as Brian Barry-Murphy's men prepare for their Round Two clash against Norwich City tomorrow night. Get your tickets here!
Salech scored two first half goals against Swindon in our opening game of the competition, before setting up Jack Moylan for the eventual winner in the second half. He beat Josh Bowler, Lukas Jensen and Jimmy-Jay Morgan to claim the Round One award.
Speaking to Cardiff City TV, Yousef said: “It’s always nice to get individual recognition, but I just want to do my part, work hard and do well for the team, so we can achieve much bigger things together.
“I think I had a good game. Three goal involvements, and most importantly one goal more than the other team, to win the game and get through. It’s nice to be in the next round."
Concluding with a comment on tomorrow night's fixture, he added: "I'm expecting that it will be a tough game. They have a few Danish players that I know, and I think they are eager to show themselves, come here and get through to the next round - just like we want to.
“We did enjoy the extra games last year, and we’re trying to aim to do the same; have a good Cup run, get some good fixtures and see how far we can go.”
