Wigan Athletic have played nine times in the league this season, and have three wins, three draws and three defeats thus far. They sit 12th in the League One table.

Like the Bluebirds, the Latics were in action on Tuesday evening, facing Wycombe Wanderers at home for a place in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup. They bowed out at that stage, being defeated, 2-0. Cup competitions aside though, they are unbeaten at home in league competition this season.

Wigan Athletic vs. Cardiff City
IN DAYS GONE BY

02/10/22 | Wigan Athletic 1-3 Cardiff City

Our last game at Wigan Athletic was during the 2022/23 season.

An interesting moment came pre-match when it was suggested that one of the crossbars was raised higher than the other. Despite this, the game went ahead but investigations into the heights of the goal posts continued for weeks at EFL games following. It was Mark Hudson's side who took the points on the day, with one of the goals ironically going in off the underside of the woodwork.

Callum Robinson put City ahead before Sheyi Ojo added a second. Both being provided by Niels Nkounkou.

Charlie Wyke reduced the deficit late in the game, but Ryan Wintle fired a powerful free-kick in off the crossbar in added time to secure the victory.

City: Allsop, Ng, Kipré, Simpson, Nkounkou, Wintle, Ralls (Sawyers 77'), Rinomhota, O'Dowda (Nelson 87'), Robinson (Ojo 41'), Harris (Etete 77'). Subs not used: Alnwick, Sang, Philogene.
