Community

It’s been another busy week in the Cardiff City community, with a full schedule of courses, training sessions, matches and other activities taking place.

Read on for a taster of what’s been going on in the past few days…

TRAINING SESSIONS



On Wednesday, Cardiff City Foundation’s 45+ Walking Football team took on the 16-18 Futsal scholars at the House of Sport. City stars Stuart O’Keefe and Matthew Connolly were also in attendance to take part in the walking football match! Check out the timetable above to find out when you can get involved in the up-and-coming sport!

A number of other coaching sessions took place this week, including Ladies and Men’s Basketball training at the House of Sport.

Meanwhile, Premier League Kicks sessions continued, offering FREE weekly sports sessions to young people aged 14-19 in various venues across South Wales, including Aberdare, Barry, Butetown, Caerau, Caerphilly, Ely and Llanishen. Since the start of the project in October 2013 the Foundation has engaged with over 1,600 participants, with over 300 female participants and 85 different volunteers.

MATCH-DAY



On Tuesday evening, there was more superb Half Time Entertainment with the Cardiff City Foundation as Premier League Kicks co-ordinator Zac Lyndon-Jones took on a corner-kick challenge – as attempted by Craig Noone, Bruno Manga and Ben Wilson earlier in the season.

Don’t miss out on the Half Time entertainment for Saturday’s match against Ipswich Town, as we use our new ‘I’ll Be There’ target for some shooting practice in front of the Family Stand!

We had an array of engaging activities for fans around the stadium, including free Bluebirds face-painting in the family stand and Aron Gunnarsson and Kadeem Harris behind the bar pulling pints for fans!

CLUB GOAL OF THE MONTH



Congratulations are in order for Jamie Bird, who won the January 2016 #CLUBGOTM. It was a wonderful individual effort from Jamie, who recently signed his first professional deal with the Bluebirds.

FIXTURES & RESULTS
On Wednesday, Cowbridge Comprehensive School beat Aberdare School 5-4 in a Cardiff City Football  Performance Centre fixture, with Luke Tidey, Luke Jeffreys, Keanu Santos (2) and Luke Sylvester on target for Cowbridge and Youssef Maohoub, David Lewis (2) and Josh Blakemore scoring for Aberdare.

And finally, it's a South Wales derby match for the Cardiff City Women’s team this Sunday, as they go up against Swansea City Ladies at the Leckwith International Stadium.
