DVP | YOUNG BLUEBIRDS FALL TO BIRMINGHAM DEFEAT

Cardiff City DVP side were defeated by an experienced Birmingham side on Monday afternoon, with the young Bluebirds losing 4-0 at the Vale.

Birmingham lined up with some familiar names – their team including the likes of Paul Caddis, Rhoys Wiggins and Viv Solomon-Otabor. However, the Bluebirds competed well during a competitive opening twenty minutes, in which David Tutonda and Eli Phipps combined well to create an early City chance.

Birmingham took the lead soon after though, as Greg Stewart finished well after some patient build-up play. Luke O’Reilly was then on hand to keep out another effort from Stewart with a fine save.

The visitors then managed to extend their lead before the break, as David Popa converted following some excellent work from Stewart and Viv Solomon-Otabor.

At half time the Bluebirds brought on Robbie Patten and Jordan Blaise as they looked for a response. Kevin Nicholson’s men began the period with promise as Tutonda saw an effort well saved by Jake Weaver.

City were unable to find a way back into the game though, and were caught on the break twice by the visitors, who added two further goals from Solomon-Otabor and Reece Brown to make for a disappointing final score-line.

Cardiff City DVP are next in action away to Nottingham Forest on Friday 23rd September.
