Ahead of Tuesday evening's clash at CCS, we look back at our previous meeting with Forest earlier in the season...

EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS | NOTTINGHAM FOREST 0-1 CARDIFF CITY

The Bluebirds' trip to the City Ground on Saturday, November 30th 2019 provided City with their first away win of the 2019.20 season as they defeated Forest 1-0 in the Midlands.

Cardiff City manager Neil Harris had joined the Club only two weeks prior to the fixture, steering the Bluebirds to a 2-2 draw against Charlton Athletic for his first match in charge, followed by a home victory against Stoke City for his first match in the role at CCS.

Following kick-off the hosts took a majority of possession as they tried to press their home advantage and take an early lead. Sammy Ameobi had Forest's first chance of the afternoon, though his shot flew wide of the mark.

The Bluebirds countered well and took the lead in the 14th minute of play through Nathaniel Mendez-Laing. Lee Tomlin laid the ball off to the winger, who cut inwards and struck low with his right foot.

Though the shot didn't climb high off the ground, the accuracy and power that Mendez-Laing had put behind it was enough to surge in at the far post, beating the outstretched arms of 'keeper Brice Samba.

Junior Hoilett

Jack Robinson nearly got an equaliser with a near-identical shot later on in the encounter, but his curled effort flew just wide of the mark, keeping City ahead.

Dealing with the pressure that the hosts put them under well, the Bluebirds continued to attack against the run of play, getting several chances of their own on the counter.

Junior Hoilett's strike in the opening minutes of the second half demanded a goal line clearance from Forest defender Joe Worrall, denying the winger his second goal of the campaign.

As full-time approached, the hosts increased the pressure further on the Bluebirds, with shots from Joe Lolley and Lewis Grabban going wide of the target from range, with City doing well to keep the ball out of their area throughout.

With the final whistle blown, Neil Harris' side had defeated the Sky Bet Championship high flyers, earning their first three points away from home of the campaign and with it their first back-to-back victories of the season.
