Match Report | Cardiff City 1-1 Watford

Match Reports
Cardiff City were held to a 1-1 draw against Watford at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After an even first 15 minutes, Cardiff got their first chance through Karlan Grant. Picking up the ball after some good work from Ike Ugbo, the forward's left footed effort was saved by keeper Daniel Bachmann.

The Bluebirds came even closer to opening the scoring five minutes later, again through Grant, who won the ball on the halfway line and beat Wesley Hoedt before driving at goal, but he was unable to keep his shot down.

City opened the scoring in the 26th minute through Mark McGuinness, as Joe Ralls delivered a dangerous corner, which deflected towards the path of the centre back to fire home on the volley.

Jamilu Collins

It was then Watford’s turn to create some chances. First, Vakoun Bayo received a simple ball from Jeremy Ngakia, splitting the home defence open, but was unable to find the target.

Yaser Asprilla had a good chance to head home from a Watford corner, however he mistimed his jump and was only able to head over.

Watford's biggest chance of the half came in the 45th minute, as Bayo intercepted Perry Ng’s backpass, but was confined to a tight angle and unable to capitalise.

Karlan Grant

The Hornets were able to score after half time, as Bayo took advantage of a mistake to win the ball in the box and slot home the equaliser.

The visitors had an opportunity to take the lead through substitute Tom Ince, as he won the ball from a loose pass, but his effort was blazed over the bar.

As time ran out, neither team was unable to find a winning goal, leaving both sides with a share of the points.

The result extends City's unbeaten home run to five matches, with the result leaving the Bluebirds one point off Play-Off places ahead of the international break.
