CITY UNLUCKY IN RANGERS LOSS

Club News

City’s U18 side fell to a 1-0 loss at Queens Park Rangers on the opening day of the month.

While Kane Owen’s set pieces were dangerous for the away side it was QPR that took the lead when the Cardiff defence failed to clear and the home side lashed in a rebound.

The home side continued to control the game and went close with a free kick after the break, Liam Matthews in the Cardiff City goal performing heroics to keep the away side just a goal behind. City thought they had levelled in the second half when an Abdi Noor cross was expertly nodded in by Dane Griffiths, only for the referee to disallow the goal for offside after consulting his assistant referee.

It was a tough loss for the young City stars to take especially after the debatable disallowed goal.
