Nilton Terroso's development side finish 2014 with three straight wins

Cardiff City's U21 development side topped off a fine year with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Cardiff City Stadium on Monday 15th December 2014.

A hard fought battle throughout, the only goal came just after the hour mark with Declan John and David Tutonda combining superbly down the left side, substitute Tutonda cutting the ball back from the bye-line for Daniel Johnson to score his fourth goal in three development matches since returning from a loan-spell with Tranmere Rovers.

Nilton Terroso's side are currently second in the Professional Development League Two South table, two points behind Swansea City with three games in hand on the leaders.

Chronological Report

Nilton Terroso named a strong starting eleven for this match, with experienced central defender and Cardiff City legend Danny Gabbidon coming into the U21 squad for the first time alongside Thomas James in the heart of defence. Gabbidon facing off against the club he left during the summer, with fellow Welsh international Declan John also beginning the match for Cardiff. Nine players from Terroso's starting side for this match have made appearances for the first team squad in the past two seasons.

Former Guisborough Town attacker Daniel Johnson was the hero for City's development side in the win away at Millwall last time out, and he went close twice early on. Johnson firstly connected with Guido Burgstaller's cross after five minutes, with the head drifting wide before the Middlesbrough-born man made his own opportunity 20 yards out, with Eagles keeper Chris Kettings pulling off a fine save to deny the in-form forward.
