RESULT: CARDIFF CITY DVP 5-1 NIKE ACADEMY

Club News

Cardiff City's U21 development side head into the new season full of confidence following a 5-1 victory over the Nike Academy in their final pre-season battle on Thursday afternoon.

Bluebirds shot stopper Luke O'Reilly returned to familiar territory for this encounter, after leaving the Nike Academy to join up with Cardiff City for the new campaign on a full-time basis in 2015/16 following a successful trial.

Kevin Nicholson's Bluebirds dominated this match from the opening exchanges with first team winger Kadeem Harris enjoying a fruitful run out at St George's Park, netting a superb hat-trick for City.

Harris was joined on the score-sheet in this match by forward Rhys Healey, recently returning to the Club after a loan spell with Colchester United in 2014/15, and full-back Jazzi Barnum-Bobb.

Cardiff City U21 Manager Kevin Nicholson gave his thoughts following a strong win at St George's Park: "It was pleasing that we finished our pre-season in a positive way with an efficient team performance and impressive win. Our focus now is the next game at Coventry City on Monday."

The Bluebirds U21 development squad kick-off their Professional Development League Two South campaign on Monday afternoon in the aforementioned match against Coventry City (Ricoh Arena - 2pm).
