COMMUNITY ROUND-UP | EASTER 2016

Community

Following the Easter break, Russell Slade’s Bluebirds are back in the thick of Sky Bet Championship action, having beaten Derby County in front of a record crowd on Saturday before taking on Burnley on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, it has been every bit as busy at the Cardiff City Foundation since the Easter weekend too, with a wide range of events taking place around the City…

LAST WEEK

Last week, in the build-up to our huge match against Derby County on Saturday, the Bluebirds took to the streets of the city centre, along with our newest #CityAsOne challenge.

While Lex Immers challenged Eric Bristow to a game of darts at Cardiff Bierkeller last Thursday, you can see the best photos from our St David’s Hall visits, including Stuart O’Keefe, Peter Whittingham, Russell Slade, Scott Young, Lee Peltier and Sean Morrison by CLICKING HERE.

Last week also saw Idriss Saadi and Kagisho Dikgacoi put through their paces at one of the Foundation’s Girls Only Soccer Schools sessions in the Family Stand at Cardiff City Stadium.

EASTER SOCCER SCHOOLS

Throughout this week, a five day Easter Experience Soccer School is taking place at the Cardiff House of Sport 2. The kids involved have really enjoyed their experience so far, with a range of activities to help them hone their skills, from 8:30am ‘til 3:30 pm every day this week!

Also this week, a four day Goalkeeper Course is in full swing offering a great chance for young players to get interested in goalkeeping, and receive professional coaching from specialised goalkeeper coaches. Meanwhile, further Soccer Schools and Premier League Kicks sessions have been taking place around Cardiff, including in Bridgend and RCT.

FIXTURES & RESULTS

Sunday brought a superb result for the Cardiff City FC Women's Development squad, as they reached the final of the SWWGL Cup with a 3-0 win over Penybont Ladies FC.

That result saw them mirror the achievements of the Senior Women’s squad, who earlier progressed to the FAW Cup Final with a dramatic 3-2 victory over South Wales Derby rivals Swansea City.

Congratulations are also in order for Women’s team star Kylie Nolan, who has been called up to the Wales U19 squad this week.

The Cardiff City Women’s team are next in League action this weekend, taking on Aberystwyth at Leckwith International Stadium at 2pm.

MATCH-DAY
A number of Foundation activities took place at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, as City defeated Derby County in front of a Club record CCS crowd of 28,680!

While the match saw the début of our GIANT Bluebirds flags, the Foundation held basketball and hockey sessions in the Family Stand pre-match, and some superb Half Time entertainment during the interval. Watch the video below to see everything that took place in full...
