U21 | CITY NET THREE IN DOMINANT WIN AT ELLAND ROAD
Club News
6th April
Cardiff City's U21 side continued their impressive run with a 3-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road on Wednesday, 6th April 2016.
The Bluebirds and the hosts both had chances in an open first period, but it remained goalless going in at the interval.
Kevin Nicholson's men came out of the blocks in the second half quicker, and deservedly took the lead when Kadeem Harris raced through on goal, before firing beyond Eric Grimes in the Leeds goal.
It was all Cardiff following this opening goal, and the young Bluebirds doubled their advantage on 63 minutes, Rhys Healey rounding the goalkeeper before tapping into the empty net.
First year professional Robbie Patten added a third on 69 minutes, striking low into the bottom corner, beyond Grimes as Cardiff took an unassailable lead.
The hosts did manage to pull a goal back with fifteen minutes remaining through Jack McKay, but Nicholson's men comfortably held out to make it nine games unbeaten.
Next time out for City's U21 development side will see them host Hull City in their penultimate home match of the Professional Development League Two campaign on Monday, 11th April. 3:00pm kick-off at The Vale Resort.
Highlights from this win over Leeds United will be available to subscribers of Cardiff City Player HD in the coming days.
