EXCLUSIVE | BENNETT EYES THREE POINTS ON WEDNESDAY

Club News

After making his Cardiff City debut in the Bluebirds' victory over Severnside rivals Bristol City, Joe Bennett spoke exclusively to Cardiff City Player HD to look ahead to Wednesday evening's clash with Carlos Carvalhal's Sheffield Wednesday.

The left-back put in an excellent performance as he helped City to a 2-1 win over the Robins on Friday. Before setting his sights on the Owls, he began by praising the Bluebirds supporters and his manager, Neil Warnock.

“He’s come in and motivated the players,” said Joe on the City boss. “He wants you to work hard off the ball and make it difficult for the team that you’re playing against. That’s what we did [on Friday].

“It was great to make my debut and there were a lot of fans there… The crowd were magnificent, they got behind the team and I think they pushed us over the line in the end.”

Next up, Joe eyed a repeat performance as the Bluebirds go up against the in-form Owls on Wednesday night.[TICKETS HERE!]

As he explained, the twenty-six year old pulled on the Wednesday shirt several times whilst on loan at Hillsborough last year, and is expecting an exciting clash at CCS.

“I know Sheffield Wednesday as I was there on loan last season,” he continued. “They are a good team, so we will have to be on it. If we play like we did [against Bristol City] then we will definitely give them a game and hopefully get three points.

"They are a passing team. They like to keep the ball. However, if we press them like we did [on Friday] then they won't have any time on the ball and they won't be able to do that. That's exactly what we need to do."

On a personal note, Joe let us know that he was happy with his first showing for City, and can't wait to get back out on the CCS turf on Wednesday night.

"I was pleased," he added. "I was pleased to get through the ninety minutes too. As you know, I've been injured for the last three or four weeks.

"I just wanted to get my fitness and back and I thought that getting through the game was the most important thing for me. Obviously, we got the three points which was massive for the club."
