Young City side impress after emphatic victory against the R’s…

The visitors started brightly but it was the Bluebirds who took an early advantage. Striker Isaak Davies was brought down in the box by goalkeeper Myles Bowman after running clear on goal on 10 minutes. Sion Spence stepped up to take the spot kick and buried it into the bottom right corner.

However, 13 minutes later, the R’s equalised. Forward Mickel Platt finished from close range to bring the scores level again.

From then onwards it was very end-to-end football with George Ratcliffe having to be alert to keep out Leandro Ribeiro’s dangerous near post effort on 27 minutes.

After persistent pressure from the away side they took the lead seven minutes before the break. Jardel Francis-Adeyinka hit the back of the net from inside the box.

City quickly responded when they were awarded a free kick three minutes later. Sam Bowen took the set piece and his powerfully driven shot was too much for the keeper as it rifled into the top right hand corner of goal.

Just three minutes after the restart and Cardiff were ahead again. Kieron Evans netted with a calm finish to make it 3-2.

Bellamy’s boys continued to pressure the QPR back four and added to their lead on 53 minutes. The dangerous Davies capitalising after a mistake from the QPR goalkeeper to increase Cardiff City’s advantage.

Just before the hour mark City netted their fifth. Davies scored his second after striking first time into an empty net following capitalising clinically on a slip by the R’s keeper. The visitors had a chance to get back into the match when Francis-Adeyinka struck the woodwork on 68 minutes.

Two minutes later though and City got a sixth. Davies on hand to calmly slot home and put the game well out of sight, securing a deserved hat-trick and victory for the Bluebirds.
