Match Preview | Cardiff City FC Women vs. FC United of Manchester Women

Women

Cardiff City FC Women will host FC United of Manchester Women for their final pre-season outing on Sunday, 19th August 2018.

“Another victory would be nice to end our pre-season,” Cardiff City FC Women’s manager Joel Hutton began. “We’ve played well recently but it’s about taking our chances. However pre-season is about working on these things and putting the building blocks in place for when the season starts. I was impressed with the girls last time-out because in a game situation we achieved three points and a clean sheet.

“We set a different target for that game which was to get the victory. We weren’t happy with some other results in pre-season so we wanted to set that right.

“Sunday’s game will be a difficult contest. They’re a good outfit and will be a tough challenge. It’s a good way to round-off our pre-season.

“The girls are working hard now and they’re raring to go. They came in earlier for pre-season this year. They’re fitter than how they were at the beginning of last season. We’re pushing all the right buttons and getting ready for the new season. Overall, the rest of the coaching staff and myself are happy to say that we’ve prepared the girls the best we can.”

Sunday’s encounter against the Moston-based side will be the first in over a year for Cardiff City forward Danielle Green. The attacker has recovered from an ACL injury that she picked up during the first game of 2017/18 and is now hoping for a positive 2018/19 campaign.

“I can’t wait to get back on the pitch this Sunday,” Danielle began. “It’s been a long and hard journey for myself so I really look forward to being involved on the pitch again. Hopefully we can get a good result on Sunday as well.

“The season before last I think I did well so I’m hoping to get off to a good start and perhaps being better than when I was before.

“There’s a good team-spirit in the camp at the moment. We’re all very close and this year and we’ve connected better ahead of the new season. Our bond is stronger than ever and I think we’ll kick-off the new season with a great start.”
