Bennett pre-QPR | We want the points on the board

Interviews

QPR PREVIEW | BENNETT

Joe Bennett joined his manager on pre-match press conference duties ahead of the Bluebirds' trip to QPR.

The 30-year-old returned from the sidelines for Wednesday's point at Derby County and began by praising Joel Bagan, who had deputised for him in the Bluebirds' two previous matches.

"I thought he took it in his stride," began Joe. "He was very calm, good on the ball and defended really well.

"He was obviously thrown in there due to injuries, and that's when you take your chance as a young player. You wait for your opportunity to get in the team.

"He did well and I think if he keeps his head down, and keeps doing well in training, he'll get more opportunities, with the amount of games we've got this season."

The City left-back went on to assess the Bluebirds' strength in depth as a squad, with Sky Bet Championship matches continuing to come thick and fast.

"I think we've got one of the strongest squads in the league, with the additions we've made," he continued.

"Harry's an unbelievable addition to the squad and could easily be playing in the Premier League. To get him into the Club is a real asset, obviously with him and Kieffer linking up.

"Then you've got Tommo coming back from injury, who's still got a massive part to play. If we can get those two fit, I think we'll be flying.

"Sheyi's been a really good addition as well. Benko has come in and, while he's not had a chance yet, has looked really good in training. He's a solid defender and will be competing with Nels and Moz soon to get in the team. I think we've got options in the squad all over in every position.

"We have new players in the squad and you can’t win every game during that transition period. It can be difficult in the Championship, but we will be looking to do that at QPR and get the points on the board."
