City boss Erol Bulut...

Bulut post-Blackburn | We weren’t concentrated enough

Interviews
Erol Bulut spoke to the press following the Bluebirds’ defeat to Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

“In the cup, we tried to go as far as we could, but today was the end for us against a good Blackburn team,” Erol began.

“They played much better than us. In the first half, we didn’t create much, but we managed to make it 2-2. In the second-half, they continued to create pressure, but we didn’t.

“We weren’t concentrated enough. They were focused and did better. In football, they are two key points. Today, it was not enough.”

Attacking duo Callum Robinson and Kion Etete scored City’s goals, with Robinson earning his first start of the campaign.

Erol continued: “Callum was injured at the start of the season, then he came back. Today, he played 70 minutes and scored. Of course, he needs a little bit of time to be fully in the game.

“Kion was fighting hard today against the Blackburn defenders. He tried his best and he scored. It was a good game from him.”

The Bluebirds return to Championship action on Saturday (30/09), welcoming Rotherham United to Cardiff City Stadium.

“Even training games, I want to win,” Erol added. “Sometimes, the opponent is better than you, then you have to accept it, like today. The opponent was better, so we accept it how it is.

“Priority is the Championship, the league and we will give everything on the weekend against Rotherham to continue our good run.”
