Erol Bulut celebrates defeating Preston North End

Bulut post-PNE | We showed character

Interviews
Erol Bulut spoke to the press following the Bluebirds’ dramatic Sky Bet Championship victory over Preston North End.

City came from behind to earn all three points thanks to added time goals from Karlan Grant and Iké Ugbo.

“It’s really important,” Erol began. “The substitutes changed the game for us, but generally, from the first minute until the end of the game, my players showed character.

“It’s not easy to play against ten players. Sometimes you think that the game can change easily, but sometimes it is more difficult. Today, we did everything right when the opponent went down to ten players.

“We kept the ball, we tried to create chances from the sides and we had a lot of shots on goal, so at the end, I think we deserve to get the three points."

Striker Ugbo netted his fourth goal for the Bluebirds since joining on loan in the summer. His header saw City rise to seventh in the Championship table.

Erol continued:Iké [Ugbo] didn’t play a few games, but in training, he was always there and he showed that he can be the key player at the end for us, because in the box, he is really good."

In the second half, defender Mark McGuinness was forced off the pitch through injury, being replaced by Jonathan Panzo.

“He got a kick on his leg and we could see from the side that he couldn’t run very well, so we had to make the substitution. I hope that in three days, he will be ok for us," Erol concluded.
