Erol Bulut speaks to the press

Erol pre-Hull City | We need consistency

Interviews
Erol Bulut spoke to the press ahead of our Sky Bet Championship clash against Hull City on Saturday afternoon.

The Bluebirds will be looking to bounce back from a narrow defeat to Birmingham City in midweek.

“I went home and watched the game again,” Erol began. “In the first half, we could have scored. We had the chance with Goutas, it was a great save from their goalkeeper. First half, everything was ok. We knew that Birmingham were going to try and score from counter-attacks and they did it.

“In the offensive part, we are not good enough right now, we have to do a lot more work in the game. I think defensively, our shape is good. We are one of the better teams in the league defensively, but we have to create more chances and score more goals. We have to work much more in the offensive part.

“To create is the most difficult thing in football. It’s a bit easier to keep possession, but to create chances and finalise chances, it’s a big difference. We have to continue to work on it.”

Erol continued by providing an injury update on the his squad, after Perry Ng was substituted in the first half against Birmingham City.

“Today, Perry trained a little bit. He will have an eye test, then we will see the result. He was not seeing clearly, so that’s why we changed him.

“It looks like Joe Ralls will not be available for Hull. We hope he will be available for the game after.

“For both Aaron Ramsey and Callum O’Dowda, it looks like January. I would hope for sooner, but I don’t think so.”

Saturday's opponents, Hull City, currently sit seventh in the Championship table, level on points with Sunderland in sixth.

Erol concluded: "It's an important game, like all the others. Every game for us is a final, because we want to be close to the Play-Offs. Now, it's nothing lost, we are only three points away from the Play-Offs and I said it also to the team, we will be and we want to be around the Play-Offs, so everyone has to take care of themselves and focus on this, and also perform like this.

"I think from the start, since we are here, to today, we have progressed really quickly and well. All my players, they put everything in to be here. Also, the Club, our owner, Tan Sri Vincent Tan, the chairman Mehmet [Dalman], Ken [Choo], everybody, all of us have worked really hard.

"Maybe it was not the expectation that we would be in that position, or even in the Play-Offs. Many supporters or other people outside, thought that this team cannot be close to the Play-Offs, that we would be 15th, 16th, or 17th.

"Still, we are in a good position, only three points away from the Play-Offs. We have to keep this way to be close until the end of the season. Then, in the last period, we have to put the gear higher to push."
