Match Reports
Cardiff City fell to a 2-0 defeat against league leaders Leicester City at Cardiff City Stadium on Friday night.

After a tentative opening, the Foxes registered the first effort on goal through Keirnan Dewsbury-Hall, who was found by Abdul Fatawu’s cross but denied by a great save from Jak Alnwick.

Joe Ralls in action for Cardiff City

The Leicester City pair linked up again a few minutes later to open the scoring, with Dewsbury-Hall's shot beating the sliding Dimitros Goutas, finding the bottom corner.

The Bluebirds’ first chance of the game came through Joe Ralls, as Kion Etete picked up the ball on the edge of the box and backheeled the ball to the City skipper, though his effort blocked by Wout Faes.

The hosts' best effort of the half came seconds before the break, with Josh Bowler neatly flicking the ball over Hamza Chowdhury, before Etete struck his effort wide of the goal.

Leicester doubled their lead 10 minutes after the break through an ambitious James Justin effort. The Bluebirds were unable to clear the ball and it broke to the full back, whose 25-yard effort went into the top corner, and beyond Alnwick's reach.

Jamilu Collins in action for Cardiff City

Substitute Rubin Colwill came close to scoring shortly after being introduced. After playing a neat one-two with Ryan Wintle, his first-time effort forced a good stop from keeper Mads Hermansen.

With The Bluebirds looking to halve the deficit, it gave the visitors a chance to break and almost sealing the game, as they twice hit the post through curling efforts from Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi.

Mark McGuinness came close to getting on the scoresheet with a header sailing just over the bar with four minutes to go, but the spoils went to the away side as the Foxes continued their strong run of form.
