Cardiff City FC Women made it four straight league wins with a 3-1 victory over Cyncoed Ladies at USW Sport Park on Thursday evening.

First half goals from Catherine Walsh and Ffion Price gave City a good lead at the interval. The Bluebirds were pegged back in the second period by Megan Saunders' strike, but Zoe Atkins added her eighth league goal of the campaign to secure the win.

The Bluebirds began strongly, and took the lead after just five minutes. Catherine Walsh adding her fifth goal of the campaign with an impressive half volley.

Zoe Atkins looked to add to her recent impressive goals haul in the opening half, going close on two different occasions.

The second goal did come for City with 27 minutes on the clock. Full-back Ffion Price scored her first ever Cardiff City goal with a curling cross the evaded the dive of goalkeeper Maisie Jones.

City were forced into an early change. Top goalscorer Phoebie Poole took a blow to the head, and was replaced as a precaution. Jasmine Simpson coming on in her place.

Sophie Norman saw a chance saved, and Atkins saw a deflected shot drift wide as the Bluebirds continued their control of the opening half, but they were unable to add to their two goals in the first 45.

Grace Morris saw an early shot saved as Cyncoed tried to find a way back into the match early on in the second half. Two minutes after City's Catherine Walsh saw a free kick saved, the home side did reduce the deficit. Megan Saunders ran clear for the hosts after an hour, rounded Ceryn Chamberlain and slotted in.

Cyncoed showed a great desire to find an equaliser, but Iain Darbyshire's side showed their quality to add a third goal. Atkins with a brilliant headed goal with 71 minutes gone, diverting Danielle Green's cross beyond Jones.

The Mighty Oaks nearly scored their second of the evening, but City 'keeper Chamberlain performed heroics, tipping Alison Witts' powerful strike away after the forward ran clear with 90 minutes on the clock.
