Mark McGuinness celebrates his goal against Sunderland...

McGuinness post-Sunderland | We want to keep building

Interviews
Match winner Mark McGuinness spoke to Cardiff City TV on Sunday, after another City victory.

Our number four headed in a late winner, to delight the travelling fans, and secure a third straight win since returning from the international break.

“Credit to them, they travelled a long way to see us," Mark said, discussing the City fans. "Hopefully they enjoy the three points!”

Macca answered honestly when asked about whether he knew much about the winner, adding: “I’ll be honest, no I didn’t. I was running forward and it hit my head. If you’re in the area, you’ve got half a chance. I’m glad to get off the mark.

“It’s important we all chip in a few goals this season too. We’re a big, physical team and we should be scoring plenty of goals from set pieces, especially me. Hopefully it is the first of many.”

City are looking strong in the table now, after wins over Swansea City, Coventry City and Sunderland in the last eight days.

Mark concluded: “Nine points in a week is as good as it gets. Today wasn’t the best of performances, but for us it was all about continuing the momentum. They’re a good side. We believe in ourselves now. The last three results we’ve shown that.

“It’s making sure we do it again, and again, and again now. It’s a long old season, and we want to keep building.”
