Mick McCarthy in training...

Mick pre-Bournemouth | We'll be ready for Saturday

Interviews

Mick McCarthy held a pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet Championship clash with AFC Bournemouth.

After successive away matches, the Bluebirds return to the Welsh capital to face the unbeaten, third-place Cherries.

"You've got to recover, recoup and crack on," Mick began, reflecting on Wednesday's defeat to Coventry City. "It's going to be a tough one because Bournemouth are a good side.

"They are Scott Parker's team and they'll play like Fulham did. They've still got a lot of players from when they were in the Premier League. They've got really good talented players, a good manager there and they've played some good football.

"It's been a tough week for the lads because they've had to play Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday... That's the Championship though and we've done it all before. We'll be ready for Saturday."

While assessing the challenge lying in wait this weekend, the Gaffer set his sights on an immediate response at CCS.

"The lads have always responded when we've had a defeat," he continued. "It pleased me that we stuck at it. It probably would have been undeserved, but we had two great chances to equalise. There's no doubting the team spirit and willingness to keep playing.

"The fans have been fantastic too and we had great support there the other tonight. I was just disappointed we couldn't give them a better performance and result. Hopefully we can do that this weekend."
