Morison post-Fulham | We’re fighting tooth and nail

Interviews
Steve Morison spoke to the press at Cardiff City Stadium following the Bluebirds’ narrow loss and strong showing against top-of-the-table Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

“We went toe-to-toe with them,” began Steve. “Limited them to at least a third of the amount of shots they’ve had this season, we had more shots on goal than them and better chances. I couldn’t be prouder of the lads, I thought they were fantastic.

“They’re top of the league and scored one, we didn’t, but if we keep performing like that week in, week out, we could have a really good end to the season.

“If you look at the end of the game, there was only one team who looked like they were going to get a goal and it was us, pushing for the draw.”

Steve went on to speak about the team’s battling spirit following the sickness bug that hit the camp ahead of the encounter.

“My squad are fighting tooth and nail for everything,” he continued. “I don’t think anyone would say we didn’t deserve a draw from that game. The training levels have gone through the roof.

“We had an absolute nightmare with sickness: Mark Harris, Uche Ikpeazu, Rubin Colwill, Ryan Wintle, Jordan Hugill and Alfie Doughty were all hit with it, and obviously some of them were starting.

“It’s the toughest 24 hours I’ve had as a manager - with all that going on, for the players to go out and perform like that shows how close and good we are as a group, and how together we are.”
