Women
We caught up with Mikayla Cook ahead of Sunday’s Adran Premier clash against Aberystwyth Town at Park Avenue.

The fixture will be the Bluebirds’ last game of 2023, having been unbeaten in the league in the calendar year.

“We are really keen to end the year on a high,” Mikayla began. “Winning the game on Sunday will bring a positive attitude into the team that we will take into next year and hopefully, continue for the rest of the season.

“We’ve had a really good start to the season, having some good results against strong opposition. As a team, we have been playing really well, controlling most games and securing the win.”

The reverse fixture at Cardiff International Sports Campus ended in a goalless draw, after a fine defensive performance from Aberystwyth Town.

Mikayla continued: “Playing away to Aberystwyth is always a tough game. They cause us a lot of problems on the field and we expect it to be a physical and intense game this Sunday.

“They are the only team to cause us to drop points this season, so it’s crucial that we don’t underestimate them as we know how dangerous they can be, so we have to stay focused.”

She has also contributed with two goals in all competitions this season, coming against Llanelli Town and Pontypridd United.

“I’m very pleased with my place in the squad,” Mikayla added. “I’m working hard in training every week to secure my place in the team for the weekends and that has been paying off.

“I’m really grateful to the coaches for having the trust in me and starting me in important games. It really gives me a confidence boost and pushes me to work harder.”
