Joe Ralls in action for Cardiff City

Ralls post-Plymouth Argyle | We're disappointed not to take three points

Interviews
Joe Ralls spoke to Cardiff City TV after the Bluebirds' draw against Plymouth Argyle on Boxing Day.

“The game swung quite a bit,” Joe began. “It was an end-to-end game, we’re disappointed not to come away with the three points, but it was probably a fair result in the end. We had a good win against Sheffield Wednesday, we take the positives from the two games, four points and we move on.

“It [tiredness] is part of it at this time of year. It’s such a congested period of fixtures. We know how much the squad is going to be used. There were some tired bodies out there and maybe some tired decision-making at times. We’re a bit disappointed, we want to win games at home, especially on Boxing Day, we know it’s a big attendance today, so it would have been lovely to give the fans three points to go home with. It wasn’t to be, but we’ll take the positives."

City went ahead early in the second half with a fine strike from Karlan Grant, who netted for the second consecutive match.

“I felt like we had good control of the game," Joe continued. "But then, they had a couple of moments and got themselves back in. That’s something we can look at, it’s disappointing from our point of view, because all in all, we felt like we had good control.

"I thought we had a decent performance today, got two goals, albeit the first one a little bit lucky, but Karlan scored a great goal at the beginning of the second half, it felt comfortable. Against the run of play a little bit, we’ve conceded a couple of goals, it makes it a tough game for us.

"In the end, they had a couple of chances at the end, a draw was probably a fair result. They’re a good side, so it’s no disgrace at all to draw against them, but at home, we wanted to win it."

The Bluebirds now sit 11th in the Sky Bet Championship table, two points outside the Play-Off positions.

Joe concluded: “I think before the run, we looked at it as a block of four games. Hopefully, we can come out of it with a good return. We’ve had a decent start, hopefully we can add to that as well over the next two games.

"There are some tired bodies and tired minds, but we’ve got the squad, that’s what it’s there for, no excuses at all. We felt like we had good control today and we let ourselves down a little bit in a couple of moments, which is frustrating.”
