Joe Ralls in action for Cardiff City

Ralls pre-Leicester City | We're looking forward to it

Interviews
Joe Ralls spoke to Cardiff City TV ahead of our Sky Bet Championship fixture against Leicester City on Friday evening.

The Bluebirds head into the fixture on the back of a win over Sheffield Wednesday, before drawing with Plymouth Argyle on Boxing Day.

“It will be a real tough game - they’re the strongest team in the league," Joe began. "We did really well against them at their place. We were disappointed to lose the game right at the last minute, so we can take confidence from that.

"We’re unbeaten in a couple of games, had a couple of good performances and a couple of decent results, so we’re going into it in good spirits.

"We know it’s going to be a real tough test, but at home we’ve got to be confident that we can come here and get a result. It’s one we’re looking forward to."

The Foxes currently sit at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table and claimed a 1-1 draw against high-flying Ipswich Town on Boxing Day.

Joe continued: “From what I can remember, the fullback comes inside and they tend to have a lot of bodies in the middle, which made it difficult for us to get a press on in midfield. I thought we dealt with it really well against them at their place and we’re going to have to do it again.

"It’s about concentration and communication, because they move into different areas, but when we win the ball back we have to hurt them, show composure and carry a threat through the game. We’ll be looking to do that."

The fixture will be City's final game of 2023, with the Bluebirds currently 11th in the table, two points off the Play-Off positions.

“If you’re in the game, you’ve always got a chance, anything can happen," Joe added. "You hope to stay in the game, which we’ll look to do. We’re at home, we’ll take the game to them, try and put them under pressure straight from the first minute and let’s see what we can do.

"We’ve got a lot of quality in the team. I know it’s a tough period and there’ll be rotation for both sides I’d imagine, but we’re happy with the squad we’ve got and lads will come in and give their best. It’s a game that you’ve got to look forward to.

"You’re playing against Leicester, who were in the Premier League for several years. It’s a game that the fans will be looking forward to, albeit it’s a tough fixture, but it’s one you can easily get up for. We’re looking forward to it.”
