City boss Sabri Lamouchi with Vincent Kompany...

Sabri post-Burnley | Looking to the future

Interviews
The Bluebirds fell to defeat at Turf Moor on the final day of the season.

City boss Sabri Lamouchi spoke to the press following the match with Burnley.

"It is always difficult to play away at the winner of the league," Sabri admitted. "We saw today the big gap between them and us. The players are disappointed.

"Our fans came to be here with us again today in their numbers. I thank them for that amazing support.

"We can be happy that we did the job before we played the game here. We have to work now for the next season."

Sabri made a huge impact, coming in at the end of January to help City maintain their Championship status for the 2023/24 season.

While 2022/23 has only just ended, eyes move quickly towards the plans for the upcoming campaign.

Sabri continued: "The players have to take some time to enjoy the vacation. But for the staff, the management and the Club we need to sit and realise what we missed this year and what we need.

"We need to talk about our situation. But I'm sure our owner and chairman want the best for the Club and will do their best.

"The goal and my mission was to save the Club and stay up, and job done. But now we need to think about the future.

"Because I don't think Cardiff City should be fighting relegation every year. It's a massive Club. We need to look forward and look up.

"We saw the big gap between them and us today, with the small details, the experience and the quality.

"We need to put everything on the table."
