A Tribute | Alan Harrington & Chris Barker

Club News
Today, we will be paying tribute to two Cardiff City icons who we sadly lost over Christmas and New Year.

On December 23rd, Alan Harrington passed away at the age of 86. Alan was a one-club man, representing City over 400 times between 1951 and 1966. He holds the record of having featured in more South Wales derbies for Cardiff City (17) than any other player, a feat that is unlikely to be surpassed in the modern era.

On New Year’s Day, we learned of the passing of a modern-day hero, Chris Barker at the age of 39. Chris represented the Bluebirds on 180 occasions between 2002 and 2007. He was part of our 2003 Play-Off Final victory over Queens Park Rangers and was voted as the Club’s Player of the Season in 2005.

Full tributes to both men can be read in the pages of today’s programme. A minute’s applause will be held ahead of kick-off this afternoon, with both sides wearing black armbands as a mark of respect. We ask supporters of Cardiff City and Swansea City to join the players during that period of reflection.

Rest in peace Alan. Rest in peace Chris.

Forever Bluebirds.
