Cardiff City’s U18 side continue their Premier Development League campaign on Saturday, as they take on Colchester United at Wallace Binder Stadium – KO at 11am.

Last weekend, the young Bluebirds staged a dramatic comeback victory at home to Swansea City. After trailing by two goals at the break, City responded magnificently in the second half. Trey George scored a remarkable hat-trick as the Bluebirds snatched all three points. The joy and delight was clear to see, especially from manager Tom Hutton, who spoke after the full-time whistle.

“I think that the overarching feeling is that we’re proud of the boys. We’re proud of them and it’s always nice to get three points from a South Wales derby, because they need to understand the importance of competing in those fixtures going forward.”

The victory extends City’s positive run of form, having now won their last four games in the PDL. Amassing twelve points has propelled the Bluebirds to fourth in the table, two points behind third-placed Charlton Athletic.

This weekend sees City aim to make it five wins from five, as they travel to Essex to take on Colchester United. The U’s come into the fixture in ninth place, with two wins from their opening nine games. Their last outing was a thrilling 3-3 draw away at Charlton Athletic. City won one and lost one against Colchester last season, winning the home game 3-0, but losing away from home 1-0.
