Cardiff City’s U18 side convincingly defeated Swansea City U18 2-0 in the Professional Development League at Landore Training Ground on Saturday.

Joel Colwill netted in the first-half before Caleb Hughes struck in the second period, with Jake Dennis and his defence keeping a clean sheet.

The starting XI was unchanged, with four U16 players on the bench: Charlie Crew, Japhet Mpadi, Will Spiers and Tanatswa Nyakuwha.

City started on the front foot and scored the opener with 38 minutes on the clock. Joel Colwill wonderfully finished into the back of the net, putting City in front while securing his second goal in two successive games.

After the interval, the Bluebirds came out determined in hunt for their second goal and looked promising in attack against a strong defence.

Cardiff City found a way in the end, netting again after 73 minutes. Caleb Hughes beautifully struck a free-kick which went in off the bar, adding another set-piece screamer to his goal against Watford U18, two weeks prior.

The visitors went in search of a third goal, but the home defence managed to be resilient for the remainder and City took three points, as their winning run extended to four games.
