THIS SATURDAY: #HealthInTheCity

Community

Cardiff City's home fixture against Huddersfield Town on Saturday 12th September will also lend itself to hosting the Club’s inaugural Health Day.

The event will be supported by many local & national health bodies, including Specsavers, Active Cardiff, Stop Smoking Wales and Public Health Screening Wales – each with an active presence at Cardiff City Stadium in the build up to kick-off.

Look out for the information stands and activity stations outside Gates 4 to 6 on Saturday. Come along and test your eye sight and hearing, or for our fans who smoke, undergo a carbon monoxide test and find out more about the support that’s available to help you quit for good! If you’re feeling especially energetic, why not get involved in a Fit Steps taster session or even see how you fare against your fellow Bluebirds in a rowing-machine competition?!

There will be plenty of representatives from each organisation present on the day to address any health-related issues and concerns you may have. Members of staff from Cardiff City FC Foundation will be also be available to tell you more about the wide range of courses on offer, from Walking Football to Active Mums sessions.

Having played a dominant role in establishing Health Day, Simon Stephens, Head of Sport and Health at Cardiff City FC Foundation said: “As a leading sports institution, it’s vital that Cardiff City Football Club plays an exemplar role in encouraging more and more people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

"As a Club, we’re keen to adopt an active role in changing people’s lives for the better, and good health is a huge factor in achieving that.

“Hopefully, the day will raise awareness of common health issues, which generally, we might overlook, or areas of our health that we all take for granted.

“I’m pleased that we can take steps as a community through our annual Health Day to promote a positive lifestyle.”
