Warnock: The boys are ready to go again

Interviews

Ahead of Tuesday’s away clash with Aston Villa, Neil Warnock spoke of the unity and preparedness of his Cardiff City squad, as they put the final touches in place for their trip to Villa Park.

Friday evening’s frustrating defeat to Wolves was the Bluebirds’ first in 14 league games, and the Gaffer explained to iFollow Cardiff City that all eyes are now firmly set on City’s remaining six Sky Bet Championship matches.

“We’re into the final run-in now and we don’t have time to dwell on anything,” he began.

“The fans are vital now, too. I thought it was great the other night [against Wolves]. I know we lost, but I though the atmosphere and the game itself was fabulous. It had everything really.”

Following Sol Bamba’s post-match rallying call on Friday night, the City boss spoke highly of the reaction from his troops, and their spirit and determination heading into the final stretch of the season.

“They’re a really good group,” he continued. “You can’t fault them in anything like that.

“They still surprise me. Where we are at the moment with six games to go, it’s an amazing feat really and I’m delighted for them - and they’re ready to go again! Once again, we’re going to be underdogs.”

Finally, the Gaffer explained just how much the Bluebirds are looking forward to testing themselves in front of a sell-out contingent of travelling Bluebirds at Villa Park.

“I think we’ve just got to go there and enjoy it really,” he said. “And that stands for all of the games coming up.

“It's one of my favourite grounds. When I was a kid, I was a Sheffield United fan, but I used to love Aston Villa’s shirt colours too. Villa’s a special place. It will be a really good atmosphere, they’re good fans and it will be a full house.

“It will be difficult but I think it’s one we can go and enjoy. We’ll have a good following and our lot always make themselves heard. Let’s give it a go!”
