Hoilett: “We have to stay solid”

Interviews

Cardiff City winger Junior Hoilett spoke to the press and media ahead of Friday night’s fixture at Millwall, offering his thoughts on what to expect from the Lions.

“They have a solid unit, they’re hard to break down.” Junior began. “They are at home, so I’m sure their fans will be behind them. They’ll stay strong and solid, so we just have to stay solid ourselves. We have to be focused and bring the same energy as last weekend at Leeds.

“We had a sticky patch, but every team goes through that in a season. We have the right people here who have the right mentality, and we stuck together. That’s what teams do, we stick together through tough times to get out of it.”

“They’ve come in and been great. We had a few injuries, so to get some new faces in helped the team spirit and morale. There’s a lot of competition for starting positions now, everyone has to be on their game to get a starting role.

“It’s a long season, so you have to have a fully fit squad to compete in this league. Gary Madine and Armand Traoré came in on the weekend and did brilliantly to help us get the result.”

“It’s tight, we just have to stay focused to finish in that top two spot. We have to take each game as it comes. I think every game is important, because the season is going by quickly. With the three-game week we have, with Bolton and Middlesbrough, we need to get out there and put a platform down.

“We’ve got the right squad, the right manager and the team spirit – it goes a long way in the Championship. I want to finish in the top two, but we have to take each game as it comes. We have enough ability to do it.”
