Cardiff City’s U23 side secured a 3-2 victory against Bolton Wanderers in their final PDL2 south clash of 2018/19. Following the thrilling contest, U23 Head Coach Jarred Harvey and defender Cameron Coxe offered their post-match reaction at CCS.

“It was a great performance,” began Jarred. “We were superb in the first half especially. It was nice to have a few First Team players involved too. Players with their quality and experience boosted the team and we saw that in the game.

“I thought it was a great way for us to finish the season. Our trialists did well and they fitted into the system excellently. It was a really good performance from the lads. There was a lot of hard work involved towards the end but I’m proud they held on to the win. It was nice to get Laurence [Wootton] back into midfield. He plays well in his natural position.

“The turnout was brilliant at the CCS. Quite a few people here! It’s lovely to play at the stadium and have spectators too. It’s nice to see people taking time out on their Monday night to come watch us play. I’m glad they could witness a good performance from the lads today.”

Making his 12th appearance of the season, Coxe was also delighted with the way City rounded off their campaign.

“It’s always great to end the season on a high with three points,” began Cameron. “We made it difficult for ourselves at the end but we stuck together until the end to get the win. A perfect way to end the season.

“On a personal note I was delighted to get an assist. It’s always great to contribute for the team and it was a great header for the goal too. Overall I’m mainly just delighted to get the win.

“We’re all looking forward to pushing on now as a team for next season. We all want to progress as individuals as well as a team. I want to push on next year and hopefully try and get some First Team involvement.”
