Warnock: We have to grasp the opportunity

Interviews

Neil Warnock held a pre-match press conference on Monday morning, ahead of Tuesday evening’s trip to face Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

Following Saturday’s frustration at Turf Moor, the Gaffer called for his men to get on the front foot in the vitally important Premier League clash.

“We’ve had that many kicks in the teeth in the past four months and we keep bouncing back," he began. "It’s an opportunity for us to give ourselves a chance until the end of the season, and we’ve got to grasp that.

“We don’t have time to feel sorry for ourselves now. We have to keep trying to be as positive as we can and give it our best shot.”

The Seagulls, who are currently 5 points above City in the Premier League table, fell to a 5-0 home defeat to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon. However, Neil explained that the Bluebirds will be ready for a response from Chris Hughton’s men.

“They’ll have been hurting after that performance," he continued. "But Chris knows he’ll get a response from his players, so if anything, that’s probably made it harder for us.

“We’ll have a great following at Brighton. Through it all, the supporters have been the massive plus for us. They clapped us off on Saturday and I think they’ve been amazing.

“They’ve been hurt by things as well. They’ve stood by us and I’m sure they’ll be vocal on Tuesday night.”
