Mick pre-Rotherham | The lads know the benchmark

Interviews
The Bluebirds travel to the New York Stadium to face Rotherham United this Tuesday evening.

City were originally scheduled begin the new year against the Millers, only for the original fixture to be postponed due to snow. The rearranged clash will kick off at 7pm, live on Cardiff City TV.

Having secured his first win as City boss in Saturday's Severnside Derby, Mick looked forward to a quick turnaround to the midweek trip to South Yorkshire.

“It will be a really tough game.” Mick began. They’ve had two 3-0 wins against Middlesbrough and Derby, which is no mean feat, and then beat Preston on the weekend as well.

“We know what to expect going up there. I fully expect it to be a really hard one, but we’ll be ready for it.”

The Millers have climbed out of the relegation zone with a number of recent victories, but the boss urged his side to extend their own unbeaten run.

“That’s three wins on the bounce for them, so they’ve got momentum," he continued. "We’re going up to their place, and it’s always a tough game at Rotherham.

"But we’re unbeaten in three games too, and just won our first game in a long time, so I’m sure we can go up there with a bit of momentum as well.”

City return to action following a dominant Severnside derby victory over Bristol City, with Mick hoping to use Saturday’s win as a springboard for success.

“We said to the lads: ‘There’s the benchmark, this is how you win games’," he added. "Now we've got to do that every week. Sometimes we’ll fall below it but still might nick a win, but I think that’s the level you’ve got to be at to win games in this league.

“I think when you’ve won away from home, you’re allowed to enjoy it and have a smile on your face. But that all changed on Sunday, because we were back out preparing for Rotherham."
