Steve Morison on the touchline at CCS...

Morison post-Preston | One of those days

Interviews
Boss Steve Morison spoke to the press following the Bluebirds’ 0-0 draw with Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.

“It was an excellent performance, we just didn’t cap it off with a goal,” Steve began. If we continue to play like that, we’ll win more than we lose. At the end of the day, I’ve said it many times - performance first then the result will follow, and the performance was excellent.

“To a man we were fantastic, we just didn’t quite get that one to fall for us. They were trying to hit us on the counter attack when we were in possession but I thought the lads were brave, they showed good intensity, we mixed our game but the ball just didn’t hit the back of the net.”

The Bluebirds registered 22 shots in the game with Rubin Colwill and Niels Nkounkou most notably coming close to finding a goal in the second half.

Steve continued: “If you look at the chance Rubin has - he bends it and the guy puts his hand out, it hits his hand and it was going in the bottom corner.

“Niels at the end, he does a pirouette he strikes the ball and if he mishits it that likely goes in the bottom corner. I think everybody in the team had a shot, it has just been one of those days.”

New signing Nkounkou came on as substitute at half-time for his debut and got his first minutes in a City shirt. Morison had his say on the Club’s new loanee and what he’ll bring to the side in the near future.

“I think he’s going to bring what he brought and more. He just needs that confidence and belief which we’ll give him.

“He’s quick, he’s powerful, he’s got a good left foot and he showed confidence straight away. He’s a great kid that’s what we look for, great characters, so I’m presuming he’ll steadily get better.”
