BIRMINGHAM REACTION | SEAN MORRISON

Cardiff City captain Sean Morrison spoke with the press after netting a late winner in the midweek victory over Birmingham City.

“I’m sure for the neutral it was a great game to watch," Sean began. “We started the first 25 minutes really well. Obviously after a disappointing game on the weekend we knew that we needed a reaction.

“The game changed after 25/30 minutes. Birmingham got a hold of the match and we conceded. It wasn’t a sloppy goal, but maybe one we wouldn’t expect to concede. It’s gone through mine and Nels’ (Curtis Nelson) legs on the way to goal and unsighted Smudge (Alex Smithies). We were disappointed to go in at 1-1 but I think Birmingham probably had the better of the end of the first half.

“Second half they started the half well again, but I think we’ve got to be smarter. The lad has scored a good goal, but I think someone has to take a foul there, and we defend a set piece. At 2-1 down you are looking at the night and wondering how it is happening.

“Bobby (Robert Glatzel) has missed the penalty, which was a good save to be fair from Neil (Etheridge).

"We were unlucky not to score an equaliser earlier on. I think the lad has toed it onto the post from my header, and Mark has got in the way of one from Bob. I think H’s (Harry Wilson) finish for the second goal is ridiculous. It’s a great run, a great ball and a fantastic finish. We take a lot of good from this game.

“The character we’ve shown to comeback into the game and win 3-2 is massive. We needed a response and were very happy to come away with three points against a difficult Birmingham team."
