Sheyi Ojo

Ojo post-Wigan | We had to dig deep

Interviews
Following City’s 3-1 away victory over Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon, Sheyi Ojo spoke to Cardiff City TV to discuss the result.

Having joined proceedings in the first half as a substitute for Callum Robinson, Ojo joined his teammate in scoring for the Bluebirds, with his second half goal being his first since rejoining the Club.

“I’m just happy to help the team today in a massive, massive game for us.” Sheyi began. “We had a solid week, and it was important to finish it off with another three points, which we got.

“I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t score another goal, to be honest, but it was a mad game. We had to dig deep for the last 20 minutes, and we showed our togetherness over the last couple of weeks, and we got the three points."

Looking ahead to a busy schedule of fixtures over the coming month, the forward spoke of the importance of the squad's ability to step up and perform when called upon:

“Everyone is going to be needed," he continued. "In the last game, Sparky [Mark Harris] came out and scored, and today it was me coming off the bench to help out. Next week it could be someone else, and you’ve got to be ready; whether you’re starting or on the bench you’ve got to be contributing, that’s the aim and so far we’ve been doing that.

“We were a bit unfortunate with the goal that we conceded, and it would’ve been the icing on the cake if we kept a clean sheet, but we’re happy with the result and with back to back wins.

“We need to build off these results and start to get some momentum.”
