Press Conference | Bennett pre-Birmingham City
BIRMINGHAM PRE-MATCH MEDIA | BENNETT
Cardiff City’s Joe Bennett spoke with the press & media on Friday morning at The Vale Resort ahead of the trip to Birmingham City.
The 29-year old left-back has played in the last three matches, missing just one game following a clash of heads with fellow Bluebird, Junior Hoilett, at Sheffield Wednesday in our last match of 2019.
“Thankfully, there was no fracture. I had to miss the QPR game because of the swelling around my eye - but I was back in for the Carlisle match with a bandage on my head.
“The derby game the following week I think was the best we’ve played for the majority of this season. Defensively strong and we played some really good football.
“It gives you confidence.”
Joe added: “I’ve had a bit more license since the manager came in to get further forward.
“It helps me to play to my strengths.”
This weekend’s game sees City visit Birmingham, who are currently in 18th place in the Sky Bet Championship. The Bluebirds won the previous league encounter against the Blues, 4-2, at CCS in October.
“Anyone can beat anyone in this league once again this season," Benno continued. "A lot of teams have struggled to find consistency, and that is something that we’re trying to focus on.
“We’ve also talked about our away form a lot as a group. We're keen to improve.”
