Report: Swansea City 1-0 Cardiff City

It was disappointment for the Bluebirds on Sunday, October 27th, as they fell to a one-nil defeat to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

Neil Warnock made two changes to the side that drew at Millwall in mid-week. Junior Hoilett & Lee Tomlin missed out entirely through injury, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Robert Glatzel called into the squad.

It was a nervous start at the Liberty Stadium, with both teams trying to take a stranglehold on the match.

The hosts struck first on 24 minutes. Ben Wilmot, on loan from Watford, met a low Wayne Routledge cross, and diverted beyond Neil Etheridge.

Joe Ralls in action against Swansea City...

The first substitution of the game seemed to revitalise Neil Warnock’s men - Omar Bogle coming in for Robert Glatzel. Captain Sean Morrison was denied from a Joe Ralls free kick, and City should’ve levelled the match with 66 minutes on the clock. Ralls’ deep cross was met at the back post by Gavin Whyte, but he struck his volley straight at Freddie Woodman.

Skipper Morrison made three exquisite blocks in the final few moments as the Bluebirds pushed forward. City though were unable to test Woodman in added time - Aden Flint’s deflected header diverted wide the best chance - with the three points going to the hosts.
