Sabri Lamouchi

Sabri pre-Blackpool | No doubt about quality

Interviews
Bluebirds boss Sabri Lamouchi spoke with press and media on Thursday morning before the Bank Holiday trip to Blackpool this Easter weekend.

Managed by former City boss Mick McCarthy, The Tangerines, sit two places and four points behind the Bluebirds amidst the battle for safety at the foot of the Championship.

And ahead of the trip to the north west coast, Sabri told of how last weekend’s disappointment has been processed and put aside ahead of a crucial double-header this weekend.

“I’ve said to the players that their attitude and performance was good [against Swansea]: we created, fought and never gave up,” the Gaffer began. “These are the ingredients needed from now until the end of the season. If we do that then I hope the scenario will be different for us.

“We must be positive and look forward to another story and battle at Blackpool. It’ll be another tough game for us.

"There are only three points on offer, but I understand the importance of the game and a win would be fantastic for us. This battle for safety will be between five or six teams and it’ll be a big battle until the end of the season.”

The sting of the last minute heartache in the South Wales derby was keenly felt in the days after the match, but looking ahead, Sabri spoke of his belief in his squad and the talent within it to deliver results over the coming weeks.

“I was absolutely [positive] on day one and I’m absolutely positive today about the quality of this squad,” he continued. “Of course, we need to be more killer [sic.], have more personality and read the game at the right time, but my mindset is the same with eight games to manage and to try to win. After Blackpool it’s Sunderland on Monday and we have to be positive game after game.”

And in terms of squad personnel, the Gaffer gave an update following some of the key concerns after last weekend, saying:Connor Wickham trained yesterday and again today and will be involved. Callum Robinson and Kion Etete won’t be with us and Callum O’Dowda is a doubt. Perry Ng trained yesterday and again today. This is what we’re looking at for this trip.”
