Cardiff City's U18 side travel to face Blues for their second match of the PDL campaign on Saturday afternoon- kick-off at 12pm.

Having began their season with an impressive 6-2 victory against Peterborough United at home last week, the young Bluebirds' first away match of the season is set to be another challenge, as they look to build early form in the league.

Hosts Birmingham City fell to a 2-1 away defeat on their opening day of the campaign, narrowly losing out to Queens Park Rangers.

Ahead of the fixture, U18s Manager Steve Jenkins discussed the build-up to Saturday afternoon, citing the team's desire to build upon their good form so far this term.

"We've had a good week in training," began Steve. "A few of the U18 players were involved in the U21 match this week, but it gives some of the lads the chance to step up into the starting eleven on Saturday.

"Everybody in the squad is desperate to play, so when the opportunity is there for these players to have some important game time, they're really looking forward to it.

"There's no better time to play than in a competitive match. We have the chance to continue the good form that we've shown, and the lads can only do that through hard work, and making sure that the application is spot on."
